Short version: the Shellhog app collects nothing. No account, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting. It does not connect to any server of ours — there is none.
The app
- Your files stay on your Mac. The copies of your folders, the logbook of your decisions and the earlier versions of your files are stored in your user Library on your Mac (
~/Library/Application Support/). Nothing is uploaded. - Your confirmation key stays in the Secure Enclave. Touch ID confirmations are signed by a key that never leaves your Mac's Secure Enclave. Apple's Touch ID prompt handles your fingerprint; Shellhog never sees it.
- What you run is yours. The programs you start in Shellhog (for example an AI assistant) may send data to their own services under their own terms. Shellhog's sandbox keeps them away from your SSH keys, browser data and Shellhog's own data, and
hog --offlinecuts their network access. - No updates check. The app does not phone home to look for updates. If you installed it with Homebrew, Homebrew checks for updates on its own schedule (see Homebrew's own privacy policy).
The website
- shellhog.org is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages), which processes technical data such as your IP address to serve the pages and protect the site. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- The home page loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers. See Google's privacy policy.
- No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no forms.
